TRAVYS is the regional public transport operator for the Nord Vaudois area and the Vallée de Joux, in canton Vaud. The company runs two rail lines and a large bus network, and it was formed in 2001 by the merger of three companies.
Trains
TRAVYS operates the R12 and R22 rail lines, both connecting Yverdon-les-Bains with Ste-Croix, a hill town near the Vallée de Joux. The company traces back to a 2001 merger of the Chemin de fer Yverdon-Ste-Croix, the Chemin de fer Pont-Brassus, and the Transports publics Yverdon-Grandson. The Orbe-Chavornay railway, managed by TRAVYS since 2003, was legally folded into the company in 2008, and it is currently being modernised, including a new road bridge at Chavornay finished in August 2026. Travellers on this line may see engineering work alongside the tracks for some time yet, though regular services continue to run.
Buses
Alongside its trains, TRAVYS runs an extensive bus network across the same region. This covers the urban network in Yverdon-les-Bains, the Urbabus network in Orbe, and regional routes reaching into the Vallée de Joux towns of Le Brassus and Le Sentier. For a traveller connecting from a TRAVYS train, the bus network is usually the practical way to reach a village that the rail lines do not serve directly.

TRAVYS does not sell tickets directly through its own website. Buy instead at a TRAVYS sales point, from a ticket machine, through the FAIRTIQ app, via the SBB/CFF app's EasyRide function, or loaded onto a SwissPass. FAIRTIQ and EasyRide both work by tracking your journey on your phone rather than requiring you to pick a fare in advance, which suits an occasional traveller who is not sure of the exact route. SMS tickets exist too, but only for city zones within Yverdon-les-Bains, so they will not cover a trip out to Ste-Croix or the Vallée de Joux.
