Where the RER Fribourg | Freiburg trains run
The network connects Bulle, Fribourg, Romont, Murten (Morat), Estavayer-le-Lac and Châtel-St-Denis, plus the towns and villages along those lines. Most lines run every 30 minutes on weekdays. At weekends, service is a mix of every 30 minutes and hourly, so check your line's exact pattern before you plan a Saturday or Sunday trip.

Buying a Frimobil ticket
Frimobil is the integrated tariff community (CTIFR) covering the canton of Fribourg and the Broye vaudoise. Tickets are priced by zone, and the network is split into 54 of them. Your ticket shows the number of zones and how long it stays valid.
For an occasional trip, a single ticket is the simplest choice; its price depends on how many zones you cross and for how long. A day pass is worth it from 3 zones, where it costs the same as a single return fare. From 7 zones, a day pass covers the whole Frimobil area for that day, so weigh the zone count against a day pass before buying a single ticket.
Frimobil tickets connect through to the national SwissPass system for onward Swiss journeys. TPF also sells discounted, dated tickets ('billets degriffes') on the S50 line between Bulle and the Lake Geneva area via Châtel-St-Denis, with reductions of up to 70 percent for travellers who can commit to a specific date and train.
Children, groups and getting around with luggage
Children under 6 travel free. Those aged 6 to 16 pay the reduced fare, and a CHF 30 per year accompanying-child card, valid across Switzerland, lets a child in that age range travel free alongside an adult holding a valid ticket. That card is worth getting if you are visiting the canton more than once with children. Groups of 10 or more get a 30 percent discount.
Bikes can go on regional and town buses, trains and the funicular outside peak hours, space allowing, usually for a fee. Pushchairs travel free, with dedicated space on every vehicle. Wheelchair users travelling by train should register in advance with the national SBB accessibility call centre; TPF buses all have low floor access and need no advance booking.
