Frequently asked questions

Does TMR run the whole Mont-Blanc Express line?

No. TMR operates the Swiss section, from Martigny to Le Châtelard and Vallorcine on the border. SNCF operates the French section onward to Chamonix and Saint-Gervais-les-Bains Le Fayet.

Do I need to reserve a seat on the Mont-Blanc Express?

Not for regular daytime trains. Only the last two departures from Martigny each day, at 23:22 and, on Fridays and Saturdays, 00:17, run on reservation only, booked online up to 30 days ahead and at least 30 minutes before departure.

What is the Saint-Bernard Express?

It is the branded name for the rail and bus corridor running from Martigny into the Entremont valley toward Orsières and the Grand-St-Bernard pass, with stations and ticket machines on TMR's own network carrying the Saint-Bernard Express name.

Can I bring my bike on the Mont-Blanc Express?

Yes, but space is limited and reservation through cff.ch is compulsory. You pay a half-fare bike ticket per journey, and bikes are not carried if a bus replaces the train.
