Salou-Port Aventura is the only train station for Salou. It sits between the resort and PortAventura Park, and Renfe's R17 and RT2 trains run from here to Tarragona and Barcelona Estació de França.

Which station to use

Every train for Salou stops at Salou-Port Aventura, so there is nothing to choose. The present building opened on 19 June 2025. It has toilets, a taxi rank, a car park with 210 spaces and bicycle parking. The main entrance is on Passeig del 30 d'Octubre, the town side. A second exit on Avinguda de Joan Fuster is for pedestrians only and leads to the theme park.

Trains to Barcelona and Tarragona

Times are as of October 2026 and are the same on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The R17 Regional Exprés links Salou-Port Aventura with Barcelona Estació de França through Tarragona, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona-Sants and Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia. There are three direct trains each way.

  • To Barcelona: 11:11, 13:11 and 21:41 from Salou, reaching Barcelona-Sants at 12:37, 14:37 and 23:07, which is 1 hour 26 minutes.
  • To Salou: 08:15, 10:15 and 12:15 from Barcelona Estació de França, leaving Barcelona-Sants at 08:33, 10:33 and 12:33 and arriving at 09:57, 11:57 and 13:57, which is 1 hour 24 minutes from Sants.

After 13:57 nothing runs through from Barcelona, so change at Tarragona. The RT2 regional trains cover the 13 minutes between Tarragona and Salou-Port Aventura. From Salou they leave at 06:59, 07:46, 14:31, 16:31, 17:31, 18:31, 19:31 and 20:31. From Tarragona they leave at 06:37, 07:23, 15:53, 16:53, 17:53, 18:53, 19:52 and 20:52, and the last one reaches Salou at 21:05.

The gaps matter: no train leaves Salou between 07:46 and 11:11, and none arrives between 07:36 and 09:57.

From the station into town

Plana's shuttle bus L1842 serves the station and runs into the town centre, ending at Carrer de Carles Roig, about 20 minutes away. It leaves from the stop on Carrer de Joan Fuster marked baixador Renfe-P. A., sentit Salou, near the station. Taxis wait at the rank outside the station building, and Taxi Salou takes calls on 977 385 050.

Reus, Cambrils, Valencia and Madrid

None of these is a direct train from Salou.

  • Reus: change at Tarragona. Regional Exprés trains take 19 minutes from Tarragona, about hourly: 21 a day on weekdays and 17 on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Cambrils: Plana's winter line L1688 runs from the station stop to Cambrils. By train, change at Tarragona for one of 11 Regional Exprés a day, 20 to 21 minutes.
  • Madrid and Valencia: the AVE, Euromed and Alvia trains, and most Intercity trains, stop at Camp de Tarragona, not at Tarragona or Salou. The fastest AVE from Camp de Tarragona to Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes takes 2 hours 37 minutes on weekdays and 2 hours 54 minutes at weekends. The fastest Euromed, Intercity or Alvia to València-Estació del Nord takes 2 hours 11 minutes. From Camp de Tarragona, Plana bus L1632 runs to Salou and Cambrils; the PortAventura stop is on request and must be booked 24 hours ahead on 977 547 290. Otherwise take a taxi from the rank outside the station. The other route is the R17 to Barcelona-Sants. One slow Regional Exprés also runs daily from Tarragona to València-Estació del Nord, leaving at 10:44 and arriving at 15:25.

PortAventura World

PortAventura Park opens on selected days from 28 February 2026 to 6 January 2027, with Halloween until 15 November and Christmas from 20 November. The Rodalies combined ticket covers the return train and a day in the park for €41.95 for adults, or €37.95 for children aged 4 to 10 and over-60s. It is sold at ticket machines and ticket offices of Rodalies stations in the Barcelona area.

Works and Christmas

As of 23 October 2026 no engineering works are planned on the R17 or RT2 into November or over Christmas. Times from mid-December, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year and 6 January, were not yet published in late October 2026.
