The station is on Avenida Príncipe de Asturias, north-east of the city centre, so the cathedral is a bus or taxi ride rather than a walk. There is a taxi stop and a city bus connection at the station, and a car park.
Trains to and from Burgos
Times are from Renfe's timetable as of October 2026.
- Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor: the AVE takes 1 hour 33 to 1 hour 39 minutes, Intercity 1 hour 42 to 1 hour 53 minutes and Alvia up to 1 hour 58 minutes. Monday to Friday there are seven trains to Madrid, from the 06:40 AVE to the 20:22 Alvia, and six from Madrid, arriving between 08:48 and 21:29.
- Valladolid Campo Grande: the AVE takes 36 to 38 minutes and Alvia about 47 minutes.
- València Joaquín Sorolla: an AVE leaves Burgos at 06:40 Monday to Saturday, calling at Valladolid and Madrid, and arrives at 10:24. The evening AVE from Valencia reaches Burgos at 21:29.
- Vitoria-Gasteiz: from 1 hour 15 minutes by Intercity, and Alvia takes 1 hour 23 to 1 hour 46 minutes.
- Pamplona and Zaragoza: until 12 December 2026, an Intercity leaves at 09:43 for Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pamplona (2 hours 14 minutes) and Zaragoza, and a Regional Exprés leaves Monday to Saturday at 08:26 for Pamplona. The daily Barcelona Alvia also calls at Pamplona and Zaragoza.
- San Sebastián and Irún: Alvia and Intercity trains take 3 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 40 minutes to San Sebastián and 3 hours 40 minutes to about 4 hours 15 minutes to Irún.
- Bilbao Abando: 2 hours 38 minutes to 3 hours 6 minutes to Burgos, and about 3 hours 15 minutes the other way.

- Logroño: the Intercity from Madrid continues to Logroño in about 2 hours 20 minutes, Monday to Saturday.
Weekends are thinner. On Saturdays four trains run each way: to Madrid at 06:40, 09:34, 11:54 and 20:22, and from Madrid arriving at 08:48, 10:27, 11:04 and 19:42. On Sundays trains from Madrid arrive at 08:48, 16:32, 19:42 and 21:29, and the first train to Madrid leaves at 11:54.
Christmas and New Year
Over Christmas and New Year, up to 6 January 2027, fewer trains run on the holidays. On 25 December and 1 January the only trains from Madrid arrive at 08:48, 19:42 and 21:29, and there is no 06:40 AVE to Valencia. On 24 and 31 December the Alvia at 19:42 and the AVE at 21:29 from Madrid do not run, so the last train from Madrid Chamartín arrives at 11:04, and a slower Regional Exprés from Madrid Príncipe Pío arrives at 19:22. The 20:22 to Madrid runs on every one of these days, and so does the Barcelona Alvia.
