Verona Porta Nuova is the station for the old town, the Arena and every long-distance train. Verona Porta Vescovo is a small regional stop on the east side.
Which station to use
Verona Porta Nuova is where the Milan to Venice line meets the Brenner line to Bolzano and Munich. Frecciarossa, Italo, Railjet, EuroCity, Intercity and Trenord trains all stop here, and the station has an assistance service for travellers with reduced mobility.
Trains from Verona Porta Nuova
Trenord's Regio Express to Milano Centrale leaves about hourly and takes about 1 hour 50 minutes, calling at Peschiera del Garda, Desenzano, Brescia and Treviglio. Frecciarossa and Italo cover the same trip in about 1 hour 15 minutes, and some Frecciarossa trains carry on to Turin.
To the east, Frecciarossa and Italo reach Venice Santa Lucia in about 1 hour 10 minutes, and some Frecciarossa trains go on to Udine and Trieste. Regionale Veloce trains to Venice leave about hourly, stop at Vicenza and Padua, and take about 1 hour 30 minutes. To the south, Frecciarossa and Italo run to Bologna and Florence, and to Rome Termini in roughly 3 hours 15 to 3 hours 25 minutes.
Five ÖBB and DB Railjets a day run to Munich Hbf in about 5 hours 25 minutes, through Trento, Bolzano, the Brenner Pass and Innsbruck. Other Railjets from Munich continue to Bologna and Venice, and Bologna takes about an hour from Verona. EuroCity trains between Switzerland and Venice also stop here. These times apply to the timetable running from 14 June to 12 December 2026.
From the station to Piazza Bra and the Arena
Piazza Bra, in front of the Arena, is at the end of Corso Porta Nuova, the avenue that runs from the station to the square, so you can walk it. With luggage, city buses 11, 12, 13, 51 and 52 leave from the bus station in the station forecourt and stop in Piazza Bra. On Sundays and public holidays, lines 90, 92, 94 and 98 take the same route, and in the evening lines 80 and 81 run every 25 minutes between the station and Piazza Bra.
A 90-minute ticket costs €1.50 and a day ticket €5, from the ATV ticket office and machines on the station forecourt or the ATV Ticket Bus Verona app. Machine tickets come already validated; others must be validated on boarding. Bought from the driver, a ticket costs €2.
Verona Airport
The Verona Airlink, ATV line 199, runs from Porta Nuova to Verona Airport in 15 minutes, every 20 minutes. The bus is equipped for wheelchair users. A ticket is €7 and stays valid for 75 minutes, including on the city's urban lines. It is sold at the ATV ticket office, at the tobacconist in the station hall, from the forecourt machines and on board, where you can pay the driver by card.
Verona Porta Vescovo
Verona Porta Vescovo is on the east side of the city, 4 to 6 minutes by regional train from Porta Nuova on the Venice line. Only Trenitalia regional trains stop there: east to Vicenza and Venice, west to Porta Nuova and beyond. No Frecciarossa, Italo, Railjet or Trenord train calls at Porta Vescovo, so choose it only if your hotel or plans are on that side.
Lake Garda
Peschiera del Garda is 13 minutes from Verona Porta Nuova on Trenord's Regio Express. For the lake towns of Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, Torri del Benaco and Malcesine, ATV buses 163, 164 and 185 leave Porta Nuova every 30 minutes, and Trenitalia sells a single train and bus ticket for the trip.
Rail passes and reservations
As of October 2026, an Interrail Pass covers Trenitalia and Trenord trains from Verona Porta Nuova, but not Italo. Regional trains need no reservation. Frecciarossa needs a €13 reservation and Intercity €3. The Munich Railjets carry a mandatory supplement for pass holders in Italy, €10 in second class or €15 in first, plus €5 if you pay on board, even though a seat reservation itself is optional. EuroCity trains to Switzerland need a reservation costing €13 to €17.
