Cinque Terre is five villages on one stretch of coast railway, and the train is how you move between them. The stations, from west to east, are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. La Spezia Centrale and Levanto are the two gateways at either end of the line.

Monterosso

Monterosso is the only one of the five villages where InterCity and EuroCity trains stop, with more than a dozen departures a day towards Milan, Turin, Zurich, Livorno, Rome and Naples in the timetable valid until 12 December 2026. Platform 1 serves Levanto and Genoa, platform 3 serves La Spezia. The Park Welcome Center is on the first floor of the station at Via Fegina 40. Follow the Fegina seafront promenade, go through the pedestrian tunnel and continue straight to Piazza Garibaldi in the historic centre. Fegina, where the station is, is the newer seaside part of the village.

Vernazza

Vernazza station sits beside Via Roma, and the Park Welcome Center at Via Roma 51 is next to it. Leave by the station lift (05:00 to 00:30) or the stairs, then follow central Via Roma to the town square by the sea. Platform 1 is for Monterosso and Levanto, platform 2 for Riomaggiore and La Spezia.

Corniglia

Corniglia is the uphill exception. The village sits on a cliff about 100 metres above the railway. From the station, the Lardarina staircase climbs 377 steps in 33 flights, and a vehicle road also reaches the village. A Park bus links the station and the village about every 15 to 20 minutes from 08:00 to about 19:30 and roughly hourly after that, with the first departure from the station at 07:20 and the last at 22:40. It is free with a Cinque Terre Card; otherwise you pay a bus fare.

Manarola

From Manarola station, take the pedestrian tunnel to the village, then turn left towards the sea and the marina. The Park Welcome Center is in the station. The footpath from Manarola to Corniglia is closed as of 6 October 2026.

Riomaggiore

From Riomaggiore station a pedestrian tunnel leads to the village. Continue uphill along Via Colombo to the upper part of the village, where a Park information point is located. The Via dell'Amore, a 1.1 km seafront path to Manarola that takes about 25 minutes, starts on the left as you leave the station. Entry needs a booked time slot and a Cinque Terre Card that includes it, such as the Train Card, or a €10 add-on. It is open 08:30 to 21:30 (last entry 21:00) until 31 October and 09:30 to 17:00 from 1 November.

5 Terre Express and tickets in 2026

From 14 March 2026 the 5 Terre Express adds 46 daily services between Levanto and La Spezia Migliarina or La Spezia Centrale, calling at all five villages about every half hour. The extra trains run until 1 November 2026.

Neighbouring villages are 3 to 5 minutes apart on the Express. Heading south from Vernazza, Riomaggiore is 12 minutes away and La Spezia Centrale 22. From La Spezia Centrale, Riomaggiore is about 8 minutes away, Vernazza about 20 and Monterosso about 25. Coming back to La Spezia takes up to 2 minutes longer.

The Cinque Terre single ticket (Fare 39/9) covers one direct journey inside the Park, including La Spezia and Levanto, and is valid for 75 minutes. Until 1 November 2026 adults pay €5, €8 or €10 depending on the Park's attendance band (A, B or C), and children aged 4 to under 12 pay €2.50, €4 or €5. Arriving from a station outside the Park, such as Sestri Levante or Genoa, you pay the regional fare plus a Cinque Terre supplement of €3, €5 or €6 by band. Trains between Levanto and La Spezia Centrale from 19:30 to 04:00 are always band A.

The Cinque Terre Train Card is a separate product. It combines unlimited second-class regional trains between La Spezia and Levanto with Park services such as Blue Trail access, the Via dell'Amore, guided tours, village buses and free station toilets (otherwise €1). For adults aged 12 to 69, the main-season price until 1 November 2026 is €22, €29.50 or €35 for one day, €36.50 or €51 for two days in bands A and B, and €49, €68 or €81 for three days, depending on the Park's attendance band. A one-day child Card costs €15, €20 or €23.50. From 2 November to 31 December 2026 adult prices drop to €17.30, €29 and €34 for one, two and three days. Each Card expires at midnight on its last day, is issued in the holder's name, cannot be transferred or refunded, and needs valid ID.

Rail passes and reservations

An Interrail pass covers the Trenitalia regional trains that stop at all five villages, and regional trains need no reservation. It does not cover the Park's Train Card or the village buses. Only Monterosso gets InterCity and EuroCity trains. An Italian InterCity needs a €3 reservation with an Interrail pass (as of October 2026), and the EuroCity to Zurich carries its own fee.
