Arriving at Colmar station

Trains to and from Colmar
TGV INOUI trains run direct from Paris Est in about 2 hours 20 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes. Only a few run each day; at other times, change at Strasbourg for a similar overall journey time. OUIGO trains from Paris go no further than Strasbourg, so a OUIGO trip to Colmar means changing to a TER there. TER trains connect Colmar with Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Basel SBB, and a branch line runs up the Munster valley to Metzeral. Strasbourg is the most frequent link: the journey takes about 30 minutes, with a TER roughly every half hour through the day and a few TGV INOUI services in between. Basel SBB is about 45 minutes away by direct TER, once or twice an hour. From 13 December 2026, one OUIGO Grande Vitesse train a day in each direction between Strasbourg and Marseille also calls at Colmar.
From the station into the old town
The walk into the old town takes 10 to 15 minutes. If you have heavy bags, Trace line A runs from the Gare stop to Théâtre, the network's main interchange close to the centre, in about six to seven minutes. Until mid-November 2026 it leaves about every 10 to 15 minutes in the daytime from Monday to Saturday, and about hourly between 09:30 and 19:30 on Sundays and public holidays.
The free Cœur de Ville electric shuttle also stops at the station interchange and loops through the old centre about every 20 minutes, Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00. You can hop on and off at its stops, and it needs no ticket.
A Trace single ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for one hour on any line. Buy it from the machines at the Gare and Théâtre bus stops, in the Trace e-ticket app, or by tapping a contactless bank card or phone on the bus validator. If you change bus within the hour, tap the same card or phone again on the next validator; you are not charged twice. A ticket bought from the driver costs €2, in cash only, and notes above €20 are not accepted.
For trips beyond the city, Fluo 68 coaches leave from beside the station for Ribeauvillé, Saint-Hippolyte, Rouffach, Breisach am Rhein and other places around Colmar. They are a separate regional coach network from the city buses.
Rail passes and reservations
An Interrail pass covers the TGV INOUI and TER trains that call at Colmar, but the fast trains need a seat reservation. As of October 2026, TGV INOUI reservations are compulsory and cost €10 to €20 in either class. OUIGO Grande Vitesse, which calls at Colmar from 13 December 2026, is included in the pass with a compulsory reservation of €10 to €20 in its single class. Seats for pass holders can be limited, so reserve early. TER regional trains, including those to Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Basel SBB, need no reservation. Trace city buses are paid for separately.
