Choosing your station
Rouen Rive Droite, on Place Bernard Tissot, is the station you arrive at from Paris, Le Havre and Lyon. It has ticket machines for mainline and Nomad trains, a ticket sales desk in the historic hall, free Wi-Fi, toilets, a supermarket and a few fast-food counters. There is an assistance service for travellers with reduced mobility. Partner left-luggage points are within a five-minute walk.
Getting from Rouen Rive Droite into the city
The Gare-Rue Verte metro stop is in front of the station entrance. Take a metro towards Technopôle or Georges Braque, not Boulingrin, which is the opposite way and the end of the line. Get off at the second stop, Théâtre des Arts, after Palais de Justice-Gisèle Halimi. The ride takes about three minutes, and metros run every three to six minutes for most of the day, less often in the evening and on Sundays. Théâtre des Arts is the central interchange for the T1, T2 and T3 lines. On foot, allow about 15 minutes from the station to the Seine quays.
Gare-Rue Verte is also the stop for the T4 line and buses F2, F7, 11 and 22, which suit hotels away from the centre. As of October 2026, a single Astuce ticket costs €1.80 and lasts one hour on the whole network, changes included. A 24-hour Découverte ticket costs €6.10. You can buy tickets at the Nomad sales point in the station, from the machines at metro stations, by SMS or in the My Astuce app. A single ticket can also be paid on board by contactless bank card on the new validators. Validate every time you board, including when you change.
Trains from Rouen
Paris Saint-Lazare is the main link, with about 30 direct trains a day and around 25 on Sundays. The faster Nomad Résa trains run non-stop in roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 25 minutes. The slower trains, stopping at Vernon-Giverny, Val-de-Reuil and Oissel, take about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Nomad Résa trains to or from Paris, whose numbers start with 31 on this line, cannot be boarded without a reservation, so tickets are sold for a specific train. The slower trains, whose numbers start with 13, need none. The cheapest fares start at about €10 from Paris and €6 from Le Havre, on selected trains.
Le Havre has around 20 direct trains a day and about 16 on Sundays, mostly TER Nomad services taking 43 to 59 minutes. They run from about 06:00 (09:00 on Sundays) until at least 22:00. One TGV INOUI in each direction links Marseille and Lyon Part-Dieu with Rouen and Le Havre, taking about 3 hours 45 minutes from Lyon without a change in Paris. It does not run every day: in autumn 2026 there is none on Mondays or Fridays. Other journeys from Lyon mean changing stations in Paris. Direct regional trains also run from Rouen to Dieppe, Caen and Amiens.
Rail passes and reservations
An Interrail or Eurail pass covers the journey but not the seat. As of October 2026, the Nomad Résa trains to and from Paris need a reservation, which costs €2.50 in either class. The slower Paris trains and the stopping trains to Le Havre need none. On the TGV INOUI a reservation is compulsory and costs €10 to €20 in either class. Interrail's reservation service sells both and adds €2 per person per train. For any other Nomad Résa journey, open your exact train in the Interrail timetable, which shows whether a reservation is compulsory and what it costs.
