What POLREGIO is

POLREGIO S.A. is Poland's largest passenger rail operator. Around 2,000 POLREGIO trains run each day, calling at more than 2,000 stations, and the company carries close to 102 million passengers a year. POLREGIO is part of the state-owned ARP group. It is a separate company from PKP Intercity, which runs Poland's national long-distance IC and EIC network. POLREGIO's own trains cover regional and agglomeration journeys instead, and track access on its routes is managed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the national infrastructure manager.

Train categories

POLREGIO runs three types of service. REGIO trains are its standard regional and agglomeration services, mostly stopping at every station within a single voivodeship or between neighbouring ones, though some run as faster, semi-fast trains. interREGIO is a faster, limited-stop service between Łódź and Warsaw. superREGIO is a seasonal service between Kraków and Zator, handy for a day trip to the Energylandia theme park; it does not run year round.

Buying a ticket

POLREGIO tickets are priced in Polish złoty (PLN) and sold through several channels: station ticket offices, POLREGIO's own ticket vending machines at stations around the country, the free POLREGIO mobile app, the operator's website, the conductor on board, and more than 400 Kolporter kiosks. Alongside single-journey tickets, POLREGIO sells weekly, monthly and quarterly period tickets.

Honoring other operators' tickets

POLREGIO reciprocally honors certain Arriva RP tickets, including single-journey, weekly, monthly and quarterly fares, in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, and Arriva honors the equivalent POLREGIO tickets in return. POLREGIO also honors PKP Intercity's network season tickets, issued as plastic INTERCITY Cards, at normal and 50 percent discounted fares, along with PKP Intercity's SCIC international fares.

Between 30 March and 12 December 2026, POLREGIO, PKP Intercity and PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście (the separate Tricity SKM company) also honor each other's single-journey tickets, but only on a defined stretch around Gdańsk and Gdynia. Coverage stops at named stations, not the whole Tricity area: the deal applies to tickets to or from Gdańsk Główny, Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, Gdańsk Oliwa, Sopot and Gdynia Główna, within the area bounded by Gdańsk Lipce, Gdańsk Kokoszki, Gdańsk Osowa, Gdynia Chylonia and Gdynia Cisowa. Each ticket stays valid for 75 minutes from the scheduled arrival or departure time at the named station. Bicycle tickets and a handful of promotional fares fall outside this arrangement, so keep a separate ticket ready for those.

interREGIO and superREGIO cover only a handful of named corridors rather than the whole country. Match your route to the right category before booking, particularly for the seasonal Kraków to Zator service.
