Not the same as Warsaw's SKM

PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście, commonly called Tricity SKM or PKP SKM, is a separate company from Szybka Kolej Miejska (Warszawa), Warsaw's own municipal rail operator. The two share the SKM abbreviation and the same rolling-stock type, but not an owner, a region, or a ticket system. Tricity SKM is based in Gdynia, was founded in December 2000 and began independent operations on 1 July 2001, and it runs entirely within the Pomorskie region, not in or around Warsaw.

What Tricity SKM runs

Tricity SKM is both the infrastructure manager of railway line 250, Gdańsk Główny to Rumia, dedicated to agglomeration passenger services, and the train operator delivering public-service rail transport under a contract with the Pomorskie regional government. Tricity SKM provides agglomeration services on the Gdańsk Śródmieście to Wejherowo to Lębork corridor, with named service sections covering Lębork to Wejherowo, Wejherowo to Gdańsk Śródmieście, and Gdańsk Główny to Gdańsk Stadion EXPO. The company also runs occasional commercial services, particularly on the Gdańsk Główny to Gdańsk Stadion-Expo section. Its fleet comprises 66 electric multiple units: 58 company-owned units in the EN57, EN57AKM, EN71 and 31WE series, plus 8 region-owned 31WEbb units used for agglomeration services.

Tickets and fares

Tricity SKM fares are set under the Pomorska Tariff and priced in Polish złoty (PLN). Bicycles are carried under specific rules: a passenger may bring one bike on a single-journey or monthly bicycle ticket, with a monthly ticket also allowing a free seat reservation for the bike. A reservation for a bike costs PLN 7.00, charged as a flat rate regardless of distance. On the Gdańsk Śródmieście to Wejherowo section specifically, a passenger with a valid travel ticket may carry one bike free of charge.

Honoring other operators' tickets

Between 30 March and 12 December 2026, Tricity SKM, POLREGIO and PKP Intercity honor each other's single-journey tickets, but only on a defined stretch around Gdańsk and Gdynia. The arrangement covers tickets to or from Gdańsk Główny, Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, Gdańsk Oliwa, Sopot and Gdynia Główna, within the area bounded by Gdańsk Lipce, Gdańsk Kokoszki, Gdańsk Osowa, Gdynia Chylonia and Gdynia Cisowa. Each ticket is valid for 75 minutes from the scheduled arrival or departure time at the named station. Bicycle tickets are excluded from this reciprocal arrangement.
