Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna

Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna, known as ŁKA, is the regional passenger rail operator for the Łódzkie voivodeship, founded on 10 May 2010 and wholly owned by the regional self-government. It has held a licence to provide rail transport services across the EU and EEA since 3 June 2012, and runs under a public-service contract with the Łódzkie regional government.

Where the trains run

The operator's core corridor runs Łódź, Pabianice, Łask, Zduńska Wola and Sieradz. ŁKA also lays on extra services for regional events, most recently a free return service for the Rose Festival in Kutno and trains for the Łódzkie Voivodeship harvest festival. It is a network built for daily commuting first, with local events layered on top.

Tickets and reciprocal honouring

Tickets, priced in PLN, are sold through the operator's own channels and through KOLEO, Bilkom, SkyCash, e-Podróżnik, Jakdojade and other partners; tickets can also be held in the mObywatel digital ID app alongside KOLEO. ŁKA honours certain tickets from Koleje Wielkopolskie, Koleje Śląskie, PKP Intercity, POLREGIO and Koleje Mazowieckie on shared or overlapping sections, and honours some Łódź city transport tickets on parts of its network.

ŁKA has now carried its 80 millionth passenger, alongside a recent record month for ridership.

Practical notes
