Koleje Dolnośląskie

Koleje Dolnośląskie, usually shortened to KD, is the regional passenger rail company for the Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesia) voivodeship. It is registered as Koleje Dolnośląskie Spółka Akcyjna, with its seat in Legnica, and runs regional trains connecting Wrocław Główny with towns across the region.

Where KD trains run

Services link Wrocław with Legnica, Jelenia Góra, Wałbrzych, Lubin and Głogów, along with smaller stops such as Kłodzko, Bielawa, Świdnica, Dzierżoniów Śląski and Syców. Some routes reach hiking and winter-sports destinations near Jelenia Góra, including Szklarska Poręba Górna and Polana Jakuszycka.

Tickets and fares

KD's Local Tariff covers a defined set of routes, priced in PLN. Single tickets on these routes range from around PLN 6 to PLN 22, and monthly round-trip tickets run up to around PLN 413 depending on the route. Tickets are sold on the KD website, at KD customer service offices and ticket machines, on board trains and buses, and through the KOLEO, E-Podróżnik Tickets and BILKOM platforms. KD also offers a Senior 60+ discount of 25 percent off the regular fare, and a group offer where the eleventh traveller in a group of ten rides free.

Bicycles

KD trains accept bicycles in a designated onboard area; tell the train crew before boarding so they can point you to the right spot. A bicycle ticket for a single journey costs PLN 8.20, the same fee honoured on POLREGIO trains, while the Weekend with KD and Wspólny Bilet Samorządowy offers charge PLN 12.00 per day. A monthly network bicycle ticket, priced at PLN 82.40, works on both KD and POLREGIO trains. A folded bicycle packed in a cover travels free as hand luggage.
