Krösatågen is a system, not a single company. Six county traffic authorities, Jönköping, Kalmar, Halland, Blekinge, Kronoberg and Skåne, run it together, and SJ Krösa operates the trains day to day.
Where Krösatågen runs
The network stretches from Hässleholm in the south to Linköping in the north, and from Halmstad in the west to Kalmar in the east, calling at numerous stations along the way. Because it spans six counties, a single Krösatågen ticket works across the whole system, whichever regional authority you bought it from.
Buying a ticket
Tickets are sold by the regional authorities in the collaboration: Blekingetrafiken, Hallandstrafiken, Kalmar Länstrafik, Jönköpings Länstrafiken, Länstrafiken Kronoberg and Skånetrafiken. Check where you can buy on board before you travel, because the rule changes across the network. You cannot buy on board in Kronoberg, Skåne or Blekinge counties, or on the Emmaboda to Karlskrona stretch; buy and activate your ticket before boarding on those legs. Onboard purchase is allowed in Jönköping and Halland counties, and on the Kalmar to Linköping, Västervik to Linköping and Kalmar to Emmaboda stretches in Kalmar county. Wherever you travel, you are responsible for holding a valid ticket, and boarding without one can mean a penalty fee.
If something goes wrong
Claim delay or cancellation compensation from the regional authority you bought your ticket from, not from SJ Krösa. If you are travelling on a Resplus ticket and your trip is disrupted, a separate booking support line can help you rebook. Lost property is handled by SJ Krösa, with drop-off points at Kalmar, Nässjö and Linköping stations.
Practical tips
The ticket rules genuinely change from county to county on this network. Buy and activate your ticket before boarding wherever you are travelling, rather than assuming you can pay the conductor. That single habit avoids the most common mistake on Krösatågen.
