Frequently asked questions

How long does the Paris to Brussels train take?

The fastest Eurostar trains complete the journey in 1 hour 22 minutes. Most departures take between 1h22m and 1h37m; trains with additional stops take a little longer. All services run directly between Paris Gare du Nord and Brussels-Midi.

How much does a Paris to Brussels train ticket cost?

Eurostar Standard fares start from around €29 one-way. Eurostar Plus starts from around €57, and Eurostar Premier from around €130. These are starting fares - prices go up as seats fill and the departure date gets closer. Booking as soon as your dates are set, and travelling midweek rather than at weekends, gives you the best chance of a lower fare.

Which company runs trains from Paris to Brussels?

Eurostar is the only operator of direct trains between Paris and Brussels. Thalys ran services on this route until October 2023, when it merged into Eurostar; all trains on the route now operate under the Eurostar brand. No other high-speed operators, including Ouigo or TGV Inoui, run direct Paris-Brussels services.

Can I use an Interrail or Eurail pass on the Paris to Brussels Eurostar?

Yes, Interrail and Eurail passes are valid on Paris-Brussels Eurostar trains. You will still need to buy a separate seat reservation, which starts from €27 per person one-way. A second-class pass gives access to Eurostar Standard seating; a first-class pass gives access to Eurostar Plus. Neither pass covers Eurostar Premier. Pass-holder seats are limited, so book your reservation as early as possible.

What is the onboard experience like on the Paris to Brussels Eurostar?

Every seat on Paris-Brussels Eurostar trains has free Wi-Fi and a power socket. Meals, drinks, and snacks are available from the onboard café for all passengers. Eurostar Premier passengers receive a full meal and drinks served at their seat. Luggage allowances are two bags plus a small daypack in Standard and Plus, and three bags plus a daypack in Premier.

Do you need a passport to travel from Paris to Brussels by train?

Yes. Eurostar is an international train service, and you need a valid passport or government-issued national ID card to travel from Paris to Brussels. Document checks take place at Paris Gare du Nord before you reach the platform. This applies to all passengers regardless of nationality. Arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure to allow time for these checks.

Is Brussels worth a day trip from Paris?

Yes, and the train makes it easy. The journey takes around 80 minutes, so you can leave Paris in the morning, spend a full day in Brussels, and be back the same evening. Brussels is a compact city: the Grand Place is about a 20-minute walk from Brussels-Midi station, and Metro lines 2 and 6 connect the station to the city centre in around 10 minutes.
