Wrocław Główny is the main station and the one nearly every visitor needs. From here the Rynek, the old market square, is a 15 to 20 minute walk or a direct tram ride.

Which station to use

Use Wrocław Główny. Every long-distance train stops here, including those to Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Gdańsk, Berlin, Leipzig, Prague and Vienna. Wrocław Nadodrze, north of the old town, is the second station. Koleje Dolnośląskie and Polregio regional trains towards Oleśnica, Trzebnica, Jelcz-Laskowice and Ostrów Wielkopolski stop there, and so do the PKP Intercity IC trains to Łódź and Warsaw, about 10 minutes after leaving Wrocław Główny.

Trains to and from Wrocław

PKP Intercity runs the long-distance trains. Warsaw has about 20 direct trains a day: one EIP in the early morning (about 3 hours 30 minutes to Warszawa Centralna), four EIC trains (3 hours 35 to 3 hours 45 minutes) and IC trains (4 hours to 5 hours). Kraków has a train about every hour from 05:10 to about 21:00, taking 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes, and the same trains reach Katowice in about 2 hours. Poznań is 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 35 minutes away, and nine trains a day continue to Gdańsk Główny (about 4 hours 30 minutes) and Gdynia. These times are from the timetable valid until 12 December 2026.

International links, all PKP Intercity trains:

  • Berlin: IC Odra (about 07:10), IC Wawel (about 11:00) and IC Galicja (about 15:00) run via Zielona Góra and Frankfurt (Oder) in about 4 hours. Until 27 November 2026 and again on 12 December they end at Berlin-Lichtenberg instead of Berlin Hbf. From 28 November to 11 December 2026 a replacement bus covers the last leg from Frankfurt (Oder) or Rzepin to Berlin Hbf, and the trip takes about 5 hours 30 minutes. The overnight IC Ursa leaves just before 01:00 (at 00:24 on 20 November and 4 December) via Poznań and Frankfurt (Oder) and reaches Berlin-Lichtenberg at 06:19; from 27 November to 10 December 2026 its passengers finish by bus from Rzepin and reach Berlin Hbf at 07:49.
  • Leipzig: IC Saxonia (09:30) and IC Via Regia (13:30) run via Legnica in about 3 hours 35 minutes. They start in Kraków and Przemyśl.
  • Prague: IC Baltic Express leaves at 05:13, 09:13, 13:13 and 17:13 via Kłodzko and Międzylesie and takes 4 hours to Praha hl.n.
  • Vienna: IC Ossoliński leaves at about 06:30 and reaches Wien Hbf at 11:49. IC Porta Moravica leaves at 14:15, reaches Wien Hbf at 19:49 and continues to Graz, arriving at 22:19.

There is no direct train to Dresden. The fastest connection takes 3 hours 12 minutes with a change at Zgorzelec or Görlitz, and Koleje Dolnośląskie sells a through ticket from Wrocław Główny for PLN 90 one way.

From Wrocław Główny to the Rynek

On foot it takes 15 to 20 minutes. By tram, take line 18 towards Tarczyński Arena (Królewiecka) from the Dworzec Główny stop. It calls at Bastion Sakwowy, Park Staromiejski, Świdnicka (Dom Europy), Świdnicka and Zamkowa before the Rynek stop, the sixth stop, 11 minutes away. Trams run every 12 to 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes at weekends. Trams 2, 5, 8 and 23 from the station do not reach the Rynek; they stop at Galeria Dominikańska, two stops away.

A 15-minute ticket, PLN 3.20, covers the ride; a single ticket costs PLN 4.60. Machines at stops take cards and cash. Machines on board load the ticket onto a payment card and do not take cash.

From the airport

Bus 106 runs between Port Lotniczy and the Dworzec Główny (Dworcowa) stop in 42 to 44 minutes. Buses leave the station about every 15 minutes from 05:00 until 23:22, and the airport from about 05:15 until 23:39. A single ticket, PLN 4.60, covers the whole ride.

Tickets

Every PKP Intercity ticket includes a seat reservation, so buy for a specific train. Sales open 30 days ahead for IC and TLK trains and up to 120 days ahead for EIC and EIP, on the PKP Intercity website, in its app and at the station ticket offices. On the EIP and on every international train the ticket must be bought before boarding.

City tickets cost PLN 3.20 for 15 minutes, PLN 4 for 30 minutes, PLN 4.60 for a single ride of any length and PLN 15 for 24 hours.

Koleje Dolnośląskie regional tickets are sold on its website, at its ticket offices and by conductors. Polregio also runs regional trains from both stations. Buy the ticket of the operator whose train you board.

Rail passes and reservations

As of October 2026, Interrail passes are valid on PKP Intercity, Koleje Dolnośląskie and Polregio trains. EIP trains need a paid reservation, PLN 43. Selected IC and TLK trains marked [R] in the timetable need a seat reservation, and one is recommended on the other IC, TLK and EIC trains; PKP Intercity charges PLN 3. Every train across the border needs a reservation bought before boarding: €4 to Berlin or Leipzig and €3.50 to Prague, Vienna or Graz. A Poland One Country Pass stops at the border, so these trains need a Global Pass. Regional trains need no reservation.

Traps to avoid

  • Boarding a bus 106 for the airport after 23:22. The 23:31 and 00:15 departures from the station go to the depot.
  • Paying cash on board a tram or bus. The on-board machines take cards only, so buy at a stop machine first if you carry cash.
