Choosing your train
SNCF's TGV INOUI and Trenitalia's Frecciarossa both run through from Turin to Paris, usually five trains a day in total: three TGVs and two Frecciarossa. Take the TGV if time matters most. It gets you to Paris in about 5 hours 30 minutes. The Frecciarossa needs about 6 hours, as it also calls at Lyon Part-Dieu.
The first direct trains leave in the morning. The last one departs in the late afternoon and reaches Paris late in the evening. Miss it and the next options run overnight with several changes. Book a daytime train.
Boarding at Porta Susa
Every direct train to Paris leaves from Torino Porta Susa, not Porta Nuova. The trains start in Milan, so they pull in with passengers already on board, and your reservation holds your seat. Porta Susa is on metro line 1.
The route over the Alps
From Turin the line climbs to Oulx and Modane, the first stop in France, then runs down the Maurienne valley to Chambéry. Some TGVs also stop at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne or Mâcon-Loché TGV, and the Frecciarossa calls at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne as well. In Paris you arrive at Gare de Lyon, with metro lines 1 and 14 and RER A and D beneath the station.
A landslide in the Maurienne valley closed this line at the end of August 2023, and direct trains came back in spring 2025. The latest works closure, from 12 September to 9 October 2026, has finished. Direct trains are running.
Tickets, fares and reservations
Book the TGV INOUI through SNCF Connect and the Frecciarossa through Trenitalia. Both trains require a seat reservation.
In November 2026, second-class TGV INOUI fares from Turin start at €54 one way on selected trains and dates. Frecciarossa tickets use the Serenità fare. Its price climbs as seats sell, changes are free until departure if you pay any difference, and cancelling before departure refunds 80%.
An Interrail Global Pass lets you ride either train, but a One Country Pass does not cover the journey to Paris. You also pay for the compulsory reservation: €31 in second class or €45 in first on the TGV, against €13 on the Frecciarossa. Pass holders save most on the Frecciarossa.
Timetable change on 13 December 2026
The current timetables end on 12 December 2026. Direct trains are scheduled to keep running in the new timetable from 13 December, but times may shift slightly, so go by the departure on your ticket.
