Non-stop or stopping trains
Three companies run high-speed trains on this line: Renfe with its AVE and Alvia trains, iryo and OUIGO. Renfe alone runs up to 22 trains a day, so there is a departure most hours from early morning into the evening.
Non-stop trains take about 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes. Others call at Camp de Tarragona and Lleida and need around 1 hour 45 minutes, while the Alvia takes about 2 hours. Pick a non-stop train when the times suit you. It saves about 20 minutes.
Most of these trains run on to Madrid. Zaragoza is a stop of only a few minutes, so have your bags ready before the train pulls in.
Since 28 October 2026 high-speed trains between Madrid and Andalucía have been suspended after an accident, so trains that normally run through between Barcelona and Seville, Málaga or Granada via Zaragoza are affected until the line reopens.
Times may shift with the timetable change on 13 December 2026, so look at your own date if you travel later.
The slow regional train
Renfe also runs a regional train from Barcelona over the old line via Tarragona, Reus, Móra la Nova and Caspe. It takes about five and a half hours. Before ending at Zaragoza-Delicias it calls at Zaragoza Goya and Zaragoza-El Portillo. Take it only if you want to stop along the way.
Stations at each end
All the high-speed trains leave from Barcelona Sants. The regional train starts at Barcelona França and also calls at Passeig de Gràcia and Sants.
You arrive at Zaragoza-Delicias, the city's main station. Cercanías commuter trains, city buses and a taxi rank are all at the station. Getting into town is simple.

Each company sells tickets for its own trains, and the cheapest fares go to people who book early.
