Advance fares for the direct TGV inOui start from approximately €90 to €109 on SNCF Connect when booked well in advance. Prices rise significantly closer to the travel date and can reach €299 or more for last-minute bookings. Connecting ICE services are available from lower advance fares, making them a practical option for price-sensitive travellers. Children aged 14 and under receive a 50% reduction on the Leisure rate for the French segment; travel on the German segment is free for children in this age group.

Where to book

SNCF Connect (sncf-connect.com) is the official French operator booking site. It carries no booking fees and is the primary recommended platform for the direct TGV inOui. Note that SNCF Connect may decline non-European payment cards or phone numbers in some cases.

DB (bahn.de) sells tickets for the full Paris, Munich journey, including connecting ICE itineraries. It is a reliable alternative for international travellers and is particularly useful for comparing connecting options.

Night train from Paris to Munich

The ÖBB/SNCF Nightjet service that previously operated overnight between Paris and Munich (NJ469) was withdrawn from the December 2025 timetable change. Paris Gare de l’Est

All Paris, Munich trains, the direct TGV inOui and connecting ICE services, depart from Paris Gare de l’Est (also written Paris Est or Paris-Est). This is not the same station as Paris Gare du Nord, which is the Eurostar terminal. Confirm you are travelling from Gare de l’Est before booking.

The station is served by Paris Métro Lines 4, 5, and 7. Line 4 connects directly from Gare Montparnasse; Line 5 connects from Gare d’Austerlitz.

München Hbf

The direct TGV inOui and all connecting daytime services arrive at München Hbf (Munich Hauptbahnhof), Munich’s central station. München Hbf is served by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, and bus, with frequent connections to the city centre and beyond.

Rail passes on the Paris, Munich route

Eurail and Interrail passes are valid on trains between Paris and Munich, covering both the direct TGV inOui and connecting ICE services. However, a paid reservation is required on all TGV inOui international services, the pass alone does not guarantee a seat, and the reservation fee is not included in the pass price.

For Interrail pass holders, the mandatory reservation fee for TGV/ICE services on the Paris, Stuttgart/Munich corridor is €19, plus a €2 booking fee per passenger per train charged by the Interrail reservations system. DB’s official FAQ confirms that a reservation including surcharge is required for high-speed trains between Germany and France. Reservations for pass holders can be booked through SNCF Connect, bahn.de, or directly through the Eurail or Interrail booking systems. Book as early as possible, the single daily direct departure has limited reservation capacity for pass holders.
