TGV Lyria

TGV Lyria is the only direct high-speed service between Paris and Geneva. It is a joint brand operated by SNCF and SBB (Swiss Federal Railways). Tickets are available via SNCF Connect, the TGV Lyria website, and SBB.ch.

Intermediate Stops

TGV Lyria calls at Bourg-en-Bresse, Nurieux, and Bellegarde between Paris and Geneva. Bellegarde is the last stop in France before the train crosses into Switzerland.

Rail Pass Information

Interrail and Eurail Passes

Both the Interrail Pass (for European residents) and the Eurail Pass (for non-European residents) are valid on TGV Lyria. A seat reservation is mandatory; the pass does not cover it. The reservation fee ranges from €16 to €26 per person in 2nd class and €26 to €57 in 1st class, plus a €2 booking fee per passenger when reserving through the Interrail or Eurail system. If you want to avoid the reservation fee entirely, a regional train from Paris Est to Geneva takes around 8 hours 35 minutes with no reservation required for pass holders. Stops include Belfort, Basel, and Neuchatel.

Swiss Travel Pass

The Swiss Travel Pass covers unlimited travel on Swiss trains, buses, and boats within Switzerland. It does not cover the French portion of the Paris to Geneva journey, which runs from Paris to the French-Swiss border near Bellegarde. If you hold a Swiss Travel Pass, you still need a separate ticket for the French leg.
