Direct trains run from Kraków Główny to Praha hlavní nádraží several times a day, and most daytime journeys take just over 6 hours.

Direct trains by day

In the timetable running to 12 December 2026, three PKP Intercity and ČD trains and two Leo Express trains leave Kraków Główny for Prague each day, between early morning and mid-afternoon. They take between about 6 hours and 6 hours 30 minutes, via Oświęcim, Bohumín, Ostrava, Olomouc and Pardubice.

On the PKP Intercity trains, only the through carriages go to Prague. At Bohumín they continue as a ČD EuroCity, and you stay in your seat. Sit in the carriage your reservation names, because the rest of the train may not continue.

The early morning train gets you into Prague in the early afternoon. Take it if you want a first evening in the city.

Overnight to Prague

Three trains run overnight. The PKP Intercity and ČD night train leaves Kraków in the evening with sleeper and couchette cars and reaches Praha hlavní nádraží just before 08:00, nearly 11 hours later. RegioJet leaves just after midnight, has a sleeping car and arrives at around 07:00. Leo Express runs a train in the small hours on most nights. Both of those leave after midnight, so book them for the next calendar date, not the evening you leave your hotel.

For a proper night's sleep, take the evening sleeper. RegioJet suits you if you want a late evening in Kraków first. Every night option needs a reservation.

Tickets, reservations and passes

Buy the PKP Intercity and ČD trains from ČD, which prices them in CZK or EUR. Leo Express and RegioJet tickets come from those companies.

One catch applies in this direction. ČD's cheaper First Minute Europe fares cannot be bought as a one-way ticket starting in Poland. Times shown for Polish stations can also shift slightly when you book more than a month ahead.

A seat reservation is compulsory on every direct train, and it comes free on Leo Express. An Interrail Global Pass is valid on the PKP Intercity and ČD trains, Leo Express and RegioJet, but you still need that reservation before you board.

Track works and the December timetable

From 17 November to 1 December 2026, works between Bohumín and Břeclav move some long-distance trains to different times and reduce the number of seats, couchettes and sleeper berths. Book a night berth early if you travel in that window.

The new timetable starts on 13 December 2026. PKP Intercity plans four daily pairs of direct trains between the Kraków region and Prague, but times for 2027 are not final yet. Look at your exact date before relying on one departure.
