Day trains and station pairs

LNER and Lumo both use London King's Cross. LNER has a limited direct service to Glasgow Central, typically around one weekday departure. Lumo has a few direct trains a day to Glasgow Queen Street, taking about 5 hours 20 minutes, while other trains run to Edinburgh Waverley.

Tickets and seat reservations
Advance ties you to a named departure and suits fixed plans. Off-Peak and Anytime allow more flexibility under their ticket conditions, while a Railcard can reduce eligible fares. Your ticket must match the operator and train on your booking.
For an ordinary ticket, seat reservations are optional on Avanti West Coast and ScotRail. Lumo assigns you a seat when you book. A flexible LNER ticket can include a free seat reservation. If you use a Global Pass on LNER, reserve a free seat because some LNER trains require one.
The Caledonian Sleeper requires a reservation for every journey. A room or cabin also needs its own supplement.
Global Pass and overnight travel
An Interrail Global Pass covers participating Great Britain train services, including Avanti West Coast, LNER, Lumo, ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper. If you live in the UK, it cannot be used for an ordinary domestic London to Glasgow trip. In your country of residence, it allows one outbound and one inbound journey.
A pass does not include the Caledonian Sleeper reservation or any room supplement. The Lowlander leaves London Euston in the evening and reaches Glasgow Central in the morning. It runs six nights a week in the usual pattern, with no Saturday service. It suits travellers who value arriving rested over daytime speed, but reserve early for a room.
Stations and first steps
At London Euston, the Underground, buses, taxis and bike routes connect with the station. Allow time to reach the platform and use the departure board.
London King's Cross is a separate station from Euston. Use the station name on your ticket.
Glasgow Central is where Avanti West Coast, LNER's direct service and the Caledonian Sleeper arrive, with shops, cafes, buses, the subway and taxis. Glasgow Queen Street is beside George Square and is used by selected Lumo services and the ScotRail connection from Edinburgh. Have your onward connection ready before leaving the concourse.
