The bus is meaningfully cheaper but slower and less comfortable for a journey of this length. Flying is faster in the air but not in practice: between getting to Lisbon airport, check-in, the flight itself, and a transfer from Faro airport into town, the total door-to-door time approaches or exceeds the train journey. Onward from Faro

Faro is the main long-distance rail terminus for the Algarve, but many visitors are heading further along the coast.
