Eindhoven Centraal is the main station and the one to use, with direct NS trains to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Venlo and Maastricht.
Which station to use
Use Eindhoven Centraal for the centre, the airport buses and every long-distance train. Leave by the Stationsplein side for the Markt, the main square. The other side opens onto Kennedyplein and the Kennedytoren, the way to the university campus. Eindhoven Strijp-S is a separate station, and it matters only when your hotel or event is in that district.
From the station into the centre
The Markt, the main square, is a short walk south of the station: leave by Stationsplein and walk past 18 Septemberplein. Many city buses also stop at 18 Septemberplein, about three minutes from the station. The station has OV-fiets rental bikes at two points, and city buses leave from the station for the rest of town.
Trains from Eindhoven Centraal
NS runs all the trains below, and none needs a change. Times are for the timetable that runs until 12 December 2026; a new one starts on 13 December.
- Amsterdam Centraal: Intercity trains take 79 minutes from Eindhoven and 81 the other way, several times an hour. Schiphol Airport is 88 minutes away without a change.
- Utrecht Centraal: 51 to 52 minutes on the same Intercity trains.
- Rotterdam Centraal and Den Haag Centraal: an Intercity runs twice an hour via Tilburg and Breda. Rotterdam takes 67 to 68 minutes and The Hague 93 to 94.
- Den Bosch, Tilburg and Breda: Den Bosch takes 21 minutes, Tilburg 26 and Breda 43 to 45. Sprinters stop at Den Bosch and Tilburg too.
- Venlo: an Intercity via Helmond runs twice an hour and takes 38 to 39 minutes.
- Weert, Roermond, Maastricht and Heerlen: Intercity trains run via Weert, Roermond and Sittard. Weert takes 19 minutes, Roermond 30 to 31 and Maastricht 62 to 63, and Heerlen is direct on the same line.
On Friday nights an Arriva night train leaves for Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport at 02:02, and on Saturday mornings it returns from Schiphol, reaching Eindhoven at 06:31. Tickets are sold in the glimble and 9292 apps.
Germany and Belgium
No train runs straight from Eindhoven to Germany or Belgium. For Antwerp and Brussels, take the Intercity to Breda (43 minutes) and change to the EuroCity. The fastest trips take about 1 hour 33 minutes to Antwerpen-Centraal and 2 hours 34 minutes to Brussels, with tickets from €11 and €14 at NS International. For Düsseldorf, take the Intercity to Venlo and change to the RE 13 regional express, which leaves Venlo once an hour and reaches Düsseldorf Hbf in 1 hour 4 minutes. Tickets cannot be bought on the RE 13, so have one before you board.
Eindhoven Airport
No train reaches the airport. Bus lines 400 and 401 run from Eindhoven Centraal, and the ride takes about 20 to 25 minutes. On weekdays in the daytime a bus leaves about every five minutes. After about 21:00 only line 401 runs, every 30 minutes, and the last bus leaves the station at 00:11 (01:06 on Friday and Saturday nights, 00:12 on Sundays). An NS ticket to Eindhoven Airport, from the NS website or a ticket machine, covers the train and the airport bus. Otherwise buy a Hermes Airport Express ticket (from €5.15 single, €10.30 return, valid on buses 20, 400 and 401) or tap in and out on the bus with a contactless card.
Works and holiday timetable
From 21:00 on Thursday 29 October to 02:00 on Monday 2 November, works between Eindhoven and Venlo disrupt trains to Venlo, and buses run between the two. From Saturday 31 October to Monday 2 November, fewer Sprinters run between Boxtel and Eindhoven, and trains between Tilburg and Boxtel go via Den Bosch. On Sunday 1 November, Intercity trains between Amsterdam, Schiphol and Utrecht run less often, and you may need an extra change. From 01:00 on Saturday 7 November to 05:00 on Monday 9 November, no trains run to, from or through Rotterdam Centraal, so the Intercity via Tilburg and Breda does not reach Rotterdam or The Hague. Replacement buses and metro run around Rotterdam. From 04:00 on Saturday 28 November to 02:00 on Monday 7 December, works between Sittard and Heerlen affect the Intercity to Heerlen beyond Sittard.
NS had not published its Christmas and New Year timetable by mid-October 2026.
Tickets
Tap in and out with a contactless bank card or phone; nothing needs registering first. A card always travels second class without a discount, and the day's fares leave your account in one payment the next day. An NS e-ticket in the NS app saves €1.60 against a ticket from a machine, and e-ticket fares start at €25.60 to Amsterdam. When you change operator, such as from train to bus, check out and check in again.
Rail passes and reservations
As of October 2026, an Interrail Global Pass or Benelux Pass covers domestic NS trains, and the Intercity and Sprinter trains above need no reservation. Pass holders pay a €3 supplement on domestic Intercity Direct journeys between Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam Centraal (€3.20 with an NS ticket, €10 if bought on board), and none of the Eindhoven trains above is an Intercity Direct.
