Direct trains and journey time

Öresundståg is run by VR Sverige (since December 2025) for the Swedish regional transport authorities. Trains leave Malmö C, stop at Triangeln and Hyllie, cross the Øresund Bridge, then call at CPH Lufthavn before København H. Daytime trains are often 15 to 20 minutes apart, though the pattern changes by time and date.

Some trains continue beyond København H to Østerport, so check the destination before boarding.

Tickets, prices and reservations

From Malmö, buy a ticket through Öresundståg or Skånetrafiken and check the fare in Swedish kronor (SEK). DSB also sells Øresund tickets, priced in Danish kroner. Öresund ticket prices are fixed, with no advance discounts.

Seats cannot be reserved, so sit where you like. Buy a valid ticket before boarding: Öresundståg does not sell tickets on the train. First class is optional, and you can upgrade by card with onboard staff.

A standard bicycle needs its own ticket between Malmö and Copenhagen. Space is limited and cannot be reserved, so if the train is full you will need to take the next one. Folding bikes count as hand luggage.

Identification when crossing into Denmark

Carry valid identification. Danish police carry out periodic random checks on passengers entering Denmark, on board or at a station. Öresundståg says these checks should not affect the timetable.
