Direct trains and journey time
Öresundståg is run by VR Sverige (since December 2025) for the Swedish regional transport authorities. Trains cross the Øresund Bridge and call at CPH Lufthavn, Hyllie and Triangeln before Malmö C. Daytime trains are often 15 to 20 minutes apart, though the pattern changes by time and date.
If you are heading for central Malmö, stay on to Malmö C. Get off at Hyllie or Triangeln only if it is closer to your destination. Öresundståg continues beyond Malmö through southern Sweden, so check the destination if Malmö is not your final stop.
Tickets, prices and reservations
Tickets are sold in the currency of the seller. From Copenhagen you can buy an Øresund ticket from DSB in Danish kroner, or a ticket through Öresundståg and Skånetrafiken, which prices in Swedish kronor. Compare the price shown for the exact journey rather than converting between currencies. Öresund ticket prices are fixed, with no advance discounts.
Seats cannot be reserved, so sit where you like. Buy a valid ticket before boarding: Öresundståg does not sell tickets on the train. Ticket machines are at Copenhagen Central Station and Copenhagen Airport. First class is optional, and you can upgrade by card with onboard staff.
A standard bicycle needs its own ticket between Copenhagen and Malmö. Space is limited and cannot be reserved, so if the train is full you will need to take the next one. Folding bikes count as hand luggage.
Crossing into Sweden
Carry valid identification when entering Sweden. Swedish police check passengers at Hyllie, the first Swedish stop. If you get off there, expect the check on the platform; passengers continuing to Malmö are checked on the train.
