TRAM d'Alacant, also written TRAM Alicante, is the tram network of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), the Generalitat Valenciana's public railway company. It links central Alicante with the coast and the towns around the city, and lines 1 and 9 run north to Benidorm and on to Dénia.
Lines and where they go
Lines 1 to 4 all start at Luceros station in central Alicante. Line 1 runs to Benidorm, and line 9 continues from Benidorm to Dénia. Line 2 goes to San Vicente del Raspeig, line 3 to El Campello and line 4 to Playa de San Juan.
Line 9 now runs the whole way between Benidorm and Dénia with dual-mode trains, since the Altea to Calp section reopened with the new Algar and Mascarat viaducts. On line 1, the stretch between Hospital Vila and Benidorm now has double track and electrification.
Tickets on lines 2, 3 and 4
These three lines belong to TAM, the metropolitan transport system that also covers the Alicante city buses and the interurban bus routes to El Campello, San Juan, San Vicente and Mutxamel. Trams and buses in this area share a fare system.
The Móbilis card is a rechargeable contactless card that you hold against the validator when you board. Kiosks, tram stations and other sales points sell and top it up. Options include a single ticket and the Móbilis Multiviaje with 10 or 30 trips. Visitors can also buy the Alicante Tourist Card, valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours on city buses and trams and combined with a ride on the TURYBUS sightseeing bus.
Timetables and help
Timetables are posted at stations and tram stops, and the official website and app carry them too. The customer service desk is at Luceros station, and the free phone number is 900 720 472.
