From the station into the centre

Oradea and the Cluj-Napoca to Oradea line
Trains between Cluj-Napoca and Oradea have not run since 8 January 2024, when the line closed for rebuilding. Coaches replace them, taking 3 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes, with about seven a day in October 2026. They leave from the car park in front of the station. No date has been announced for trains to return. Because of the closure, the Budapest train runs via Arad, not Oradea.
Night trains and works
Night train IRN 1644 carries couchettes with four or six berths and sleepers with one or two beds. Sleeper and couchette tickets go on sale up to 30 days ahead.
On 7 and 8 November 2026, track works in Hungary make IR 75 leave Budapest Keleti at 09:00 instead of 09:05.
Tickets
Buy tickets on the CFR Călători website or its "CFR Călători bilete online" app, at station ticket desks, at machines or from agencies. Intercity and InterRegio tickets always come with a seat reservation, added to the fare automatically. As a guide, a full-price second-class ticket from Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest Nord costs RON 152.50 on an Intercity or RON 132 on an InterRegio, plus RON 6.50 for the reservation. If you board at a stop without a desk or machine, ask the conductor for a ticket straight away, or the higher train fare applies.
Rail passes and reservations
As of October 2026, an Interrail pass is valid on CFR Călători trains; Interrail does not list Transferoviar Călători, so buy a separate ticket for its train to Brașov. Intercity and InterRegio trains need a reservation, listed at €1.20 per train, and the night trains need one as well. On the Budapest train a reservation is recommended rather than required, at €3 on Interrail's international fee list. Regional trains need no reservation. Sleeper and couchette supplements are charged separately.
