Utrecht to Amsterdam by train

NS Intercity trains take around 27 minutes from Utrecht Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal. Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Amstel are separate station options.

Choose Amsterdam Centraal for the city centre

For central Amsterdam, travel from Utrecht Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal. The station sits at the north edge of the historic centre, making it the usual arrival for the old city. Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Amstel are different stations, so a booking for either one will take you somewhere else.

Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Amstel work well when your accommodation or appointment is nearby. Both are direct options from Utrecht, but they are not interchangeable with Amsterdam Centraal. The most convenient station is the one closest to your final destination.
