Nice to Ventimiglia by TER
TER regional trains leave Nice-Ville for Ventimiglia about 30 times a day, calling at Monaco and Menton. The ride takes around an hour and the full fare is €10.60 one way. Ventimiglia is the first station in Italy, and the Intercity and the TER are separate services, so leave a sensible gap for the change.
Ventimiglia to Milan by Intercity
Several Trenitalia Intercity trains a day run from Ventimiglia to Milano Centrale in about four hours. They follow the Ligurian coast through Bordighera, Sanremo, Imperia, Albenga and Savona, then continue through Genova Piazza Principe, Voghera and Pavia. There is no change at Genova. Slower regional trains that split the trip at Genova also exist, but the Intercity is simpler.
