Lesce-Bled is the station for Bled, but it stands in the village of Lesce and no train goes on to the lake. From the station a 9-minute bus ride or a paved path takes you the 4 km to the town.
Arriving at Lesce-Bled
Lesce-Bled is on the Ljubljana to Jesenice line, between Radovljica and Žirovnica. The bus stop for Bled, Lesce ŽP, is in front of the station, and a ticket machine stands at the station; it takes cards only. Bled's centre is 4 km from the station, and a paved path for walkers and cyclists leads there.
Trains to Lesce-Bled
From Ljubljana, trains run about hourly in the timetable valid from 5 October to 12 December 2026. The fastest Intercity takes about 50 minutes and local trains about an hour, and local trains call at Kranj and Radovljica on the way.
SŽ also runs trains between Ljubljana and Villach about every two hours, and all of them call here. Salzburg and Munich need a change at Villach. A EuroNight sleeper train between Zagreb, Ljubljana, Stuttgart and Zürich is timetabled to stop here at 22:53 northbound and 07:04 southbound. Until 11 November 2026 it is diverted through Maribor and Graz, does not call at Lesce-Bled and runs only as far as Stuttgart.
Works until 12 November 2026
The line from Lesce-Bled to Jesenice and the Austrian border is closed until 12 November 2026 for the rebuilding of Jesenice station. Until it reopens, Lesce-Bled is where the trains stop. Most trains from Ljubljana end here, and SŽ replacement buses carry on to Jesenice and Villach from the bus stop in front of the station. A few Villach services are replaced by a bus all the way from Ljubljana bus station. From 2 to 6 November 2026 the line is closed from Ljubljana too: no train reaches Lesce-Bled on those days, and SŽ buses run from Ljubljana bus station to the stop in front of Lesce-Bled station. The replacement buses do not take bicycles.
From the station to the lake
Arriva buses to Bled stop at Lesce ŽP, the bus stop in front of the station. The ride takes 9 minutes and costs €1.50, paid to the driver. On weekdays about 70 buses run between 04:10 and 23:06, never more than an hour apart. On Saturdays and Sundays there are 20 to 23 a day between 06:18 and 22:10: about one an hour through the middle of the day, and one every two hours after 16:00 and on Sunday morning. They are through buses from Ljubljana, Kranj or Radovljica, and some continue to Bohinj. In Bled they stop first at Bled Union, at the entrance to the town and 5 minutes' walk from the lake, then at Bled bus station, 3 minutes from the lake. The alternative is the paved path for walkers and cyclists, 4 km to the centre.
Bled Jezero, the station by the lake
Bled Jezero is on the Bohinj line between Jesenice and Nova Gorica, next to the lake and 1.5 km from the centre. About seven trains a day call there in each direction on weekdays and about five at weekends, from Bohinjska Bistrica and Nova Gorica on one side and Jesenice on the other, so gaps of two to four hours are normal. The station has a ticket machine.
It is the better arrival if you come from Nova Gorica or Bohinjska Bistrica, and from Jesenice once the line reopens; until 11 November 2026 SŽ buses replace the trains between Jesenice and Vintgar. From the station it is a 1.5 km walk to the centre, or a taxi; a tourist train around the lake also runs daily from June to September.
Train or bus from Ljubljana
Arriva runs direct buses from Ljubljana bus station to Bled about every half hour on weekdays and 17 to 19 times a day at weekends. They take 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes and cost €6.50 to €7.50, or €4.80 to €5.60 at weekends. Rail passes are not valid on them. The train takes about as long to Lesce-Bled and still leaves a bus ride, so for a day trip the bus is simpler and the train suits pass holders.
Tickets
SŽ sells tickets at station ticket offices, at ticket machines and online. If the ticket office at your boarding station is open, buying on the train costs €12 on top of the fare. If it is closed, you can buy on board without it. Intercity, EuroCity and EuroNight trains need a supplement of €2 before boarding or €4 on the train.
SŽ's IJPP integrated tickets are valid on trains and buses along the chosen route; the higher train types still need the supplement.
Rail passes and reservations
As of October 2026, Interrail pass holders need no reservation on regional trains in Slovenia. Intercity trains take an optional reservation of €2 or €4, depending on distance. EuroCity trains toward Villach carry a recommended €3 reservation. A Slovenia One Country Pass is valid only as far as the border, so the journey to Villach needs a Global Pass or a ticket for the Austrian part. The EuroNight sleeper train needs a reservation.
