Frequently asked questions

Do I need to use a day on my Interrail or Eurail pass to travel within Luxembourg?

Not if you are travelling second class. All second class public transport in Luxembourg, including CFL trains, buses, trams and the funicular, is free, so pass holders do not need to use a travel day for it. Travelling first class still requires using a pass day.

Is a reservation required for the TGV between Luxembourg City and Paris?

Yes, a seat reservation is compulsory on this train, and it can sell out weeks in advance. Book as early as you can, ideally around three months ahead if your travel dates are fixed.

How do I make a CFL seat reservation?

You can book through Interrail's own reservation system for around €2 per train plus a delivery charge for paper tickets, by phone through the CFL call centre, or in person at a CFL ticket office. Picking up paper tickets at Luxembourg's main station carries a small fee, around €5, and postal delivery elsewhere in Europe costs more, around €7.
