# Rome to Turin by train

Direct high-speed trains take about 4 hours 14 minutes, with about a dozen Italo departures a day and fares from €32.90.

Origin

[Rome](<https://everyrail.com/italy/rome/>)

Destination

[Turin](<https://everyrail.com/italy/turin/>)

Main stations

Roma Termini to Torino Porta Nuova

Country

[Italy](<https://everyrail.com/italy/>)

Direct high-speed trains run from [Rome](<https://everyrail.com/italy/rome/>) to [Turin](<https://everyrail.com/italy/turin/>) throughout the day, with no change needed. Italo lists about a dozen departures a day and generally takes 4 hours 14 minutes. Frecciarossa, run by [Trenitalia](<https://everyrail.com/italy/trenitalia/>), takes broadly the same time on its faster departures. Pick by departure time and fare.

## Stations in Rome and Turin

In Rome, both operators list Roma Termini as the departure station. It is the city's main hub, with the metro and most buses, so allow time to find your platform.

For most travellers, Torino Porta Nuova is the arrival station to expect. It is Turin's main station and where the Italo and Frecciarossa services on this route are listed. Some trains also call at Torino Porta Susa, a short metro ride away on Line 1, so check which one your ticket names.

## Ticket prices and seat reservations

Italo tickets start from €32.90. That is the lowest fare, not the price of every train. Prices rise with demand, so book early if cost matters. Trenitalia sells Frecciarossa in Base, Economy and Super Economy fares, and the cheaper ones come with stricter change rules.

A Frecciarossa ticket includes the compulsory seat reservation. If you do not choose a seat, Trenitalia assigns one free. Choosing a particular seat costs €4, but is free with Base, FrecciaFAMILY and Bimbi Gratis tickets and for some cardholders.

An Interrail pass does not cover the reservation. You still need to buy one for each high-speed train, and its price varies by train and class.
