Main stations

Paris Gare de Lyon to Torino Porta Susa

Countries

[France](<https://everyrail.com/france/>), [Italy](<https://everyrail.com/italy/>)

Direct high-speed trains run from Paris Gare de Lyon to Torino Porta Susa in about 5 hours 30 minutes, and you never have to change.

## TGV INOUI or Frecciarossa

Two operators share the route, usually with five direct trains a day between them. SNCF runs three TGV INOUI trains and [Trenitalia](<https://everyrail.com/italy/trenitalia/>) France runs two Frecciarossa trains, and all of them carry on to [Milan](<https://everyrail.com/italy/milan/>). For speed, take the TGV. It reaches [Turin](<https://everyrail.com/italy/turin/>) in about 5 hours 30 minutes. The Frecciarossa takes about 6 hours, a little more on the early weekday departure, because it also stops at Lyon Part-Dieu.

Every direct train leaves [Paris](<https://everyrail.com/france/paris/>) in the morning or early afternoon, and the last one goes in mid-afternoon. After that, journeys need several changes via Switzerland or Milan and take 12 hours or more. Plan around the daytime trains.

## Through the Alps

After Chambéry the line climbs the Maurienne valley to Modane, the last stop in France, then crosses into Italy and calls at Oulx before Turin. Some TGVs also stop at Mâcon-Loché TGV or Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, and the Frecciarossa calls at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne too.

A landslide in the Maurienne valley shut this line at the end of August 2023, and direct trains only returned in spring 2025. A further works closure, from 12 September to 9 October 2026, is over. Direct trains are running again.

## Stations in Paris and Turin

All direct trains leave from Paris Gare de Lyon, served by metro lines 1 and 14 and RER A and D. In Turin they stop at Porta Susa, not Porta Nuova, so book to Torino Porta Susa. The station is on metro line 1, and the historic centre and the Royal Palace are within walking distance.

## Tickets, fares and reservations

Each operator sells its own trains: TGV INOUI through SNCF Connect, the Frecciarossa through Trenitalia. Seat reservations are compulsory on both, so you board the train and seat you booked.

In November 2026, second-class TGV INOUI fares start at €49 one way on quieter days and rise to around €100 on busy ones. The Frecciarossa has one main fare, Serenità, and its price rises as the train fills. You can change it free of charge until departure, paying any difference, or cancel before departure and get 80% back.

An [Interrail Global Pass](<https://everyrail.com/rail-passes/interrail/global-pass/>) covers both trains, but a One Country Pass does not cover this cross-border trip. Pass holders still pay for the compulsory reservation: €31 in second class or €45 in first on the TGV, and €13 in either class on the Frecciarossa. With a pass, the Frecciarossa is the cheaper train to reserve, though it takes between about 15 minutes and an hour longer than the TGV.

## Timetable change on 13 December 2026

Current timetables run until 12 December 2026. Direct TGV INOUI and Frecciarossa trains are scheduled to continue in the new timetable from 13 December. Departure times can move by a few minutes, so go by the time on your ticket.
