Frequency

Changes

Direct TGV INOUI and OUIGO services run from Paris to Rennes.

Origin

[Paris](<https://everyrail.com/france/paris/>)

Destination

[Rennes](<https://everyrail.com/france/rennes/>)

Country

[France](<https://everyrail.com/france/>)

Take a direct train from [Paris](<https://everyrail.com/france/paris/>) to [Rennes](<https://everyrail.com/france/rennes/>) with TGV INOUI, OUIGO high speed or OUIGO Train Classique. TGV INOUI leaves from Paris Montparnasse, and OUIGO high speed from Montparnasse Hall 2. Both reach Rennes in about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours; the fastest trains take 1 hour 25 minutes. OUIGO Train Classique leaves from Paris Austerlitz and takes around four hours.

## Journey time and service pattern

About 20 direct trains run each day, from early morning to late evening. TGV INOUI and OUIGO high speed are the fastest choices. OUIGO Train Classique uses the conventional line and takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours.

## Stations and service choices

Use Paris Montparnasse for TGV INOUI and OUIGO high speed. OUIGO trains leave from Hall 2, which sits above the platforms and links to Halls 1 and 3. OUIGO Train Classique uses Paris Austerlitz, which has Métro lines 5 and 10 and RER C. Every option arrives at Rennes station, so a direct service requires no change. Check the departure station before leaving for the train: Montparnasse and Austerlitz are different Paris stations, which matters if you are crossing the city from another connection or carrying luggage.

For the shortest journey, choose TGV INOUI or OUIGO high speed. OUIGO Train Classique is the slower budget option when saving money matters more than arriving early.

## Tickets, reservations and rail passes

For ordinary ticket travel, buy a ticket for the service you choose. TGV INOUI is a train with mandatory booking, so an ordinary ticket is tied to the date and train and includes a seat booking. OUIGO tickets guarantee a seat; on OUIGO high speed, choosing a particular seat is optional with OUIGO Essentiel and included with OUIGO Plus, while OUIGO Train Classique is sold as OUIGO Essentiel. An Interrail France Pass or Global Pass covers TGV INOUI, OUIGO high speed and OUIGO Train Classique in France, but you must reserve each train. Reservations cost €10 to €20 on TGV INOUI and OUIGO high speed and €5 to €10 on OUIGO Train Classique.

With an Interrail Pass, reserve the chosen TGV INOUI or OUIGO service before travel. With an ordinary ticket, buy the OUIGO ticket for the service you choose.

## Arriving in Rennes

Rennes station is close to the city centre. For a first stop, head towards the historic centre, with its cobbled streets and half-timbered houses. If you have a separate hotel check-in, tour or onward ticket, leave a little margin after arrival so you can reach your first stop without turning a short rail journey into a tight connection.
