Direct journeys are available on the Nice to Paris route. The fastest listed train takes 5 hours 44 minutes, while the average is 6 hours 47 minutes. Treat these as useful planning anchors: the departure count, times, and journey length depend on the date and service.

## Choosing a service

TGV INOUI is the full-service high-speed option. OUIGO Grande Vitesse is the lower-cost alternative, with direct services between Nice and Paris Gare de Lyon. TER and Intercités also appear among route options, so read the service name and arrival station before you choose.

Some dates include an Intercités de Nuit journey. It uses Paris Austerlitz rather than Gare de Lyon, which can change the easiest route to your accommodation and onward connections. A night train can preserve a daytime block, but its longer journey is a different proposition from the daytime high-speed service.

## Stations and arrival choices

Departures may be shown as Nice or Nice Saint-Augustin. Nice Ville is the central station, while Saint-Augustin is closer to the airport side of the city. Note the departure station on your itinerary, particularly if you have luggage or are coming from the airport.

Daytime trains mainly arrive at Paris Gare de Lyon, with Metro, RER, bus, and taxi connections nearby. Some overnight services arrive at Paris Austerlitz instead. Save the arrival station with your accommodation address so that your final Paris transfer is planned around the right part of the city.

Nice and Paris stations provide assistance and accessibility information through SNCF Gares & Connexions. If you need step-free boarding or other assistance, arrange it through SNCF before travelling, using the information for both stations.

## Tickets and fares

OUIGO adult fares start at €19 on selected trains and dates. Selected SNCF fares start at €39. These are limited starting prices, not a standard fare for every departure. Earlier booking and flexible dates can give you more choice, but the fare conditions belong to the specific ticket you select.

Read the exchange and refund terms before paying. High-speed tickets are tied to the departure shown on the booking, and the service, fare, luggage allowance, and arrival station all affect whether a cheap ticket suits your plans.

## Luggage, pets, bikes, and children

OUIGO Essentiel includes one carry-on bag up to 55 x 35 x 25 cm and one piece of hand luggage up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm. An additional or XL bag costs €5, while OUIGO Plus costs €9 more and includes a seat choice and an additional or XL bag. A large suitcase is not included in the lowest fare unless its allowance is added.

On OUIGO, a pet costs €10. A pet under 6 kg travels in a carrier no larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm; a heavier pet must be muzzled and kept on a lead. One pet is allowed per adult. A folded or dismantled bike in a bag costs €5 and must not exceed 130 x 90 cm or 30 kg.

Children under 12 pay a fixed €8 fare on OUIGO Grande Vitesse, and children under 4 can travel free on an accompanying adult's lap, subject to one child per adult. TGV INOUI, TER, and Intercités have different rules, so use the conditions for the service on your ticket.

## Choosing between rail and air

For a daytime journey, rail takes longer than flying but brings you into central stations, with no airport transfer at either end. The direct train is the simplest choice when its departure suits you. A connecting itinerary may open up another time, but it adds a transfer and another service condition to manage.

Keep your ticket details available offline and check the station departure board for the platform. If you are changing across Paris after an Austerlitz arrival, allow the extra time that the cross-city transfer needs.
