No direct train runs from [Nice](<https://everyrail.com/france/nice/>) to [Milan](<https://everyrail.com/italy/milan/>). Take a TER to Ventimiglia, then an Intercity to Milano Centrale.

## Nice to Ventimiglia by TER

TER regional trains leave Nice-Ville for Ventimiglia about 30 times a day, calling at Monaco and Menton. The ride takes around an hour and the full fare is €10.60 one way. Ventimiglia is the first station in Italy, and the Intercity and the TER are separate services, so leave a sensible gap for the change.

## Ventimiglia to Milan by Intercity

Several [Trenitalia](<https://everyrail.com/italy/trenitalia/>) Intercity trains a day run from Ventimiglia to Milano Centrale in about four hours. They follow the Ligurian coast through Bordighera, Sanremo, Imperia, Albenga and Savona, then continue through Genova Piazza Principe, Voghera and Pavia. There is no change at Genova. Slower regional trains that split the trip at Genova also exist, but the Intercity is simpler.

## Tickets

The TER ticket ends at Ventimiglia. The Intercity leg to Milan is bought separately.

## Night-time works

Until 11 December 2026, no trains run between Nice and Ventimiglia from 22:00 to 06:00 on Sunday to Thursday nights. A coach replaces the train between Monaco and Ventimiglia, and ZOU! buses are reinforced between Nice and Menton. Friday and Saturday nights are not affected. From Sunday to Thursday, leave Nice before 22:00 to travel by train throughout.

Allow about six hours from Nice to Milan, including the change.
