There is no direct train from Hallstatt village to Salzburg. ## Times, changes and operators Several Hallstatt Bahnhof to Attnang-Puchheim trains run through the day, and frequent main-line trains continue from Attnang-Puchheim to Salzburg. Connections to Salzburg leave every one to two hours, and the ferry timetable sets the first part of the journey. ÖBB runs the Hallstatt Bahnhof to Attnang-Puchheim train and onward services to Salzburg Hbf. [Westbahn]() also serves the Attnang-Puchheim to Salzburg Hbf corridor, so you can use a Westbahn service for the onward leg where it suits your timetable. The regional train from Hallstatt Bahnhof does not require a reservation. ## Getting to Salzburg Hbf Your rail arrival is Salzburg Hbf, the city’s main station. Keep the two Hallstatt points separate in your plan: Hallstatt Markt is the landing stage in the village, while Hallstatt Bahnhof is across the lake and reached by ferry. If you are leaving Hallstatt later in the day, start with the ferry timetable. The Market-to-station timetable is valid through 13 December 2026, and the last sailing is at 17:45.
