Most journeys start and end at Frankfurt (Main) Hbf, the city's main station and the obvious choice if your trip begins or ends downtown. Board or alight there instead of continuing into the city. It is faster, too. Confirm the exact station before you pay. A booking page that just shows "Frankfurt" can mean either one, and boarding at the wrong end of the city costs you a taxi or a tram ride you did not plan for. ## Bruxelles-Midi is the terminus, and the train also calls at Bruxelles-Nord On the Belgian end, this ICE terminates at Bruxelles-Midi, known locally by its two official names: Bruxelles-Midi in French and Brussel-Zuid in Dutch. Book Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid by default. It is Brussels's main international station, with metro connections, Eurostar, and most onward domestic trains. The same train also stops at Bruxelles-Nord/Brussel-Noord on the way through. Choose that stop instead only if your hotel or meeting sits closer to the North Quarter or the EU institutions, since it saves you the trip back out from Midi. Either way, check which station your ticket actually names. Brussels has two, and a booking search does not always make that obvious. ## Seat reservations are optional, even with a rail pass Unlike France's TGV or Italy's Frecciarossa, this ICE does not require a seat reservation. Booking one is not compulsory, only recommended, because busy departures do fill up. The same rule applies if you are travelling on an Interrail or Eurail pass. Deutsche Bahn's Super Sparpreis Europa tickets to Brussels start from about €18.90, and SNCB International lists its own lowest single fare from about €19.99. Treat both as limited-availability promotional prices tied to a specific train and date, not the price you will find close to departure. ICE tickets on this route go on sale up to 180 days, about six months, before travel.
