Origin

Destination

[Prague](<https://everyrail.com/czechia/prague/>)

Main stations

Amsterdam-Centraal to Praha hlavní nádraží

Countries

[Netherlands](<https://everyrail.com/netherlands/>), [Czechia](<https://everyrail.com/czechia/>)

The only direct train from [Amsterdam](<https://everyrail.com/netherlands/amsterdam/>) to [Prague](<https://everyrail.com/czechia/prague/>) is the European Sleeper, overnight. By day you change once, in Berlin.

## Night train or day train

If your dates fit, take the European Sleeper. It leaves Amsterdam Centraal in the evening on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and reaches Praha hlavní nádraží the next morning: about 13 hours 20 minutes until 11 December 2026, and about 12 hours 15 minutes from 14 December 2026, when it leaves Amsterdam later in the evening. The morning run follows the Elbe past Dresden, Bad Schandau and Děčín. A few nights are dropped, including 30 November 2026, 30 December 2026 and 6 January 2027.

By day, ride an ICE from Amsterdam Centraal to Berlin Hbf, then change for a EuroCity or railjet to Prague via Dresden. The best connections take about 11 and a half hours, others nearer 12 and a half. Several leave each day from early morning. To reach Prague before midnight, leave Amsterdam by around midday.

Until November 2027 the line between Dresden and the Czech border closes on most Mondays from about 9:00 to 19:00. On Mondays the early-morning departure from Amsterdam needs extra changes or a replacement bus and takes longer; the late-morning and midday departures still connect in Berlin with one change.

## Stations in Amsterdam, Berlin and Prague

Both options start at Amsterdam Centraal. The day route changes at Berlin Hbf. The night train calls in Berlin early in the morning, at Berlin Gesundbrunnen until 11 December 2026 and at Berlin Hbf and Berlin Ostbahnhof from 14 December 2026, and you stay on board.

In Prague, aim for Praha hlavní nádraží, the main station. Most trains from Berlin end there. Some end at Praha-Holešovice in the north of the city instead, which is fine: metro line C takes you to the main station.

## Tickets and fares

NS International sells the day route from €47 one way, with the cheapest fares going early. Pick the fare by how fixed your plans are:

| Fare | Changes and cancellations |
| --- | --- |
| Supersparpreis Europa | Not possible |
| Sparpreis Europa | Possible for a fee |
| Flexpreis Europa | Free until the day of travel, City-Ticket included |

Seat reservations on the day trains are optional for most of the year. From 25 June to 5 September 2027 they become compulsory on international trains.

Book the European Sleeper with European Sleeper itself. A reservation is compulsory, and an ordinary international ticket is not valid on board. You choose Budget seats, Classic compartments with beds for four to six people (shared or private), or Comfort compartments for up to three, with prices set by date and class. Bikes cannot be booked on it during 2026.

## Interrail passes

Interrail Global passes are valid on the European Sleeper, with an Interrail reservation bought from European Sleeper: €11 to €21 for a Budget seat, €64 to €74 for a Classic berth. The night uses one travel day, provided your arrival day still falls within the pass. On the ICE and the train from Berlin, reservations stay optional outside the summer peak.
